GTA LCS and VCS headed to PSN next week, Midnight Club 1 and 2 available now

Published at 7:52 AM PST

Rockstar has kept to their word. Back in late January Vice City was made available on PSN, and Rockstar signed off their release announcement with the promise of future announcements regarding more PS2 Classics heading to PSN soon. They've just announced that both Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories will be making their way to PSN this coming week, and the original Midnight Club, along with Midnight Club 2, are available right now.

All four PS2 Classics are available for US$9.99.

This announcement follows what we predicted in our previous article; both Midnight Club 1 & 2 had been re-rated for PlayStation 3 at the time of writing and were expected to be making their way to PSN in the very near future. Vice City Stories had also been re-rated, so it was obvious itself and Liberty City Stories would follow not to long after. Interestingly enough, LCS has not been re-rated according to the ESRB website at this time.

Rockstar once again signed off the announcement with a promise along the same lines as last time:

Stay tuned for word on more Rockstar titles coming soon to the PS2 Classics collection.

The PS2-era catalogue has been nearly exhausted. The only remaining PS2-era games not released on PSN thus far are the original Manhunt, Manhunt 2, Max Payne 2, The Warriors and State of Emergency. Fans have been vocal about their desire to see Max Payne 2 on PSN, alongside Max Payne 1 which was released on PSN last year, and I'd say it's a given that we'll see it next. The Warriors was a terrific game, one which would be great to play again on PSN, and I'm throwing my support behind it also. The Manhunt series could be more tricky, particularly in the UK and AU were the two remain banned - could certainly see it headed to the US PSN though if Rockstar feels that's adequate. State of Emergency seems a little left-field, and whilst I could see a PSN release being a new-beginning for it, I can't really see it being at the top of the list.

As always, I'll keep you updated on any news regarding future PSN releases.
