Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo America, launching Nintendo's next-gen console this week, the Wii U, has made his desire to see GTA V on the new console quite clear:

"The folks there have said very nice public comments about the Wii U. In the end, it is Nintendo's responsibility to have a large installed base, to have development tools that help the developers and publishers create great content, and essentially create an environment where teams like Rockstar can bring their very best content to our platform, and if we do that hopefully the very best content throughout the entire industry will show up on Wii U."

At the moment Grand Theft Auto V has only been officially announced with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but Dan Houser didn't discount a Wii U release in an interview with IGN this past week:

"Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you. The main thing is we are not... we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff."

No doubt there are some fans out there interested in seeing the game hit Wii U, not to mention the PC fans crossing their fingers for a PC release. PC is a given, Nintendo is something else altogether.

Not many Rockstar games have made it onto a Nintendo system in the past, with the exception of Manhunt 2 and Table Tennis - both of which heavily used the motion detection on the original Wii. In the same IGN article, Houser mentioned that utilizing Kinect and PlayStation Move would make the overall experience feel disjointed in GTA mini-games, and whether this means GTA itself would feel awkward on the new Wii is an unknown. That being said, Rockstar has shown their interest in the Wii U, and whether or not we see GTA V make its way to the new console, you can be sure we'll see future Rockstar games there.
