Rockstar Vice President, Dan Houser let UK magazine, PSM3 in on one of GTA IV's defining moments. He goes on to explain how the game mixes perfect unique timing to scripted precision to create some brilliant special moments during the game. Here's one of Dan's favourites:

“There are so many defining moments, but a recent one was during a police chase”, reveals Dan, “A song I love came on one of the radio stations while I had two cop cars chasing me through chinatown. I was speeding along when another cop car I hadn’t seen rammed me straight on, our cars crunched together, and I was sent flying through the windshield. I ducked into cover and could still hear the song playing from my smashed-up car. Then the cops opened fire, but one of them hit a pedestrian who pulled out his gun and started shooting. The next thing I know, there was a full-scale war going on between a random gang and the cops. Within a few seconds all the cops were dead and the gang members walked away. I got hold of another car and quietly drove out of the search area to lose my wanted level.”

Sweet! But that's not the only defining moment for Dan in GTA IV, he let PSM3 in with one last secret:

"Well, that, or the bit in the game when Niko's past catches up with him and he must figure out what to do... but I don't want to spoil the surprise".

Sounds brilliant. I love how the game's engine can create very unique moments like that and it just proves how much better this is than the past Grand Theft Auto's. Can't wait for the 29th!

Looking at the updated official Grand Theft Auto website today I noticed something, the release months for the GTA games. We all know October was 'the month' for game releases since the start, however there was one game before Grand Theft Auto 4 that didn't abide by this unwritten law, that is Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, released April 1999.

Now we may be wrong to think this, but considering the release months are only October and April according to the history, could the April release of Grand Theft Auto 4 of been due to them wanting to keep true to the past releases? Missing October was a major let down, not just because we wanted to play the game so badly, but because October is 'the month' for GTA releases. April is the only other month to have been graced by it's presence, and I'm willing to bet the GTA4 April release was to keep faithful to that. Don't quote me on that though, I'll deny ever saying it...

Grand Theft Auto IV fansite GTA4 HQ has put together a terrific unofficial fansite kit for webmasters and soon-to-be webmasters of Grand Theft Auto websites and/or IV websites individually. The packages includes images, artwork, a website templated and much more. Being a webmaster myself I know just how hard it is to keep track of all this media and information, for a game of IV's magnitude media is fast and sometimes sneaky. The package should be a great help to anyone starting out or anyone wishing to insure they have everything required to keep their readers up-to-date and in-the-know.

We have put together a zip of goodies for you to look at, which include:
- Comparision Shots
- Wallpapers
- Official Images
- Fact Sheet
- Website Template

The zip is just under 77mb. If your a dial up user, we have broken the fan kit down for you, click this link for individual downloads! Below are some screen shots of the website template!

Check it out @ GTA4 HQ...

One of Rockstar's popular traditions is the way they always hold a contest or two before the release of an upcoming game. Grand Theft Auto IV is no exception, do you remember the t-shirt Rockstar sent out to webmasters the other day? Well Rockstar have 50 of these exclusive t-shirts printed and are giving these away to lucky US residents.

Interested? Hell, we know you are! Check out the details and go into the competition via the contest page. Best of luck to ya and see you at the game!

Microsoft believe they own Grand Theft Auto IV already, from a content prospective, Microsoft Game Studios boss Shane Kim stated:

“We already own it, I believe, from a content standpoint, because we have the exclusive episodes,” he said. “And so Xbox 360 is still going to have the ultimate experience for GTA IV.”

“Even though we’ve managed to do a good job in terms of getting the game day and date, people still, if you just let things roll, will associate Grand Theft Auto as a PlayStation franchise. Which means that we have to work really hard to make people understand that no, it’s not, and that you’ll actually get a greater experience on Xbox 360.”

No doubt they have been on the mark for Grand Theft Auto IV compared to the past GTA's. But will that be enough to overthrow Sony's very eventful history with Rockstar and the GTA Series? We'll see come the 29th of April.
