Humor: An expensive plastic cover
Humor: An expensive plastic cover
Occasionally in gaming some funny things happen, and Rockstar love their humor, be it in-game jokes, parody of other games or characters deforming real-life people, they love having a joke. It's on of the high points of Rockstar Games, their humor is always fresh and unexpected. Plus, gaming is meant to be fun isn't it? Thus we would like to introduce you to our new segment, Humor -- where we look at the lighter side of Rockstar Games.
First funny moment for the archive, purchasing a game that didn't actually come with the playable disc. Connor of Wales, UK purchased Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis not long ago. When he went to boot up the game once home, he discovered he had paid 6 quid for a plastic cover and a 14 page manual. No playable disk was in the case, something not very common. In his disgust he sent an email to Rockstar:
Hello,
I recently purchased a new and sealed copy of rockstar games presents: table tennis. However, much to my dismay, the game had no disc despite being a sealed copy (I purchased the game from the cribbs causeway, bristol branch of the store PC World and have the receipt if required). As i'm sure you can understand this was extremely frustrating as it means that i have simply paid for a box and manuel. Please can you send me either a new copy of the game or a replacement disc, I have been a dedicated fan of Rockstar for a long time and I would be greatly disapointed if you were to refuse to accept your error and it would certainly change my opinion of you as a company, I would have to seriously consider any future purchases of Rockstar products.
Kind Regards,
Connor *****
Now a tip for anyone to have problems like this in the future; try and show a little bit of intelligence and respect. Firstly remember grammar and spelling, this always shows you have a bit of an understanding of what your talking about and also makes things easier to read. Secondly, and most importantly, don't question the company or suggest "changing your opinion" on them as a whole due to a very simple to fix error. Remember as an important note that Rockstar are the first to see the game, not the last, therefore many other people have seen or touched your purchase between Rockstar packaging it and you purchasing it, so it's not necessarily the fault of the company.
Several days later Connor received an reply
Hello,
Any product with a missing disc would have to be returned to the retailer for replacement.
Something that you think you would try first, but no, according to Connor the bus trip to the store he purchased the game from is half the price of the game itself...a waste of time according to Connor because he doesn't believe they will replace the game -- " bah, no game for me then". So apparently not only is it overly expensive for bus trips in Wales, but telephones don't yet exist to check if they will replace the game. Not to mention the face they are legally obliged to do so.
So what happened in the end? Well as far as we know it went no further. 6 quid for a box and manual, hope you enjoy it Connor.
