Parental Responsibility - The way gaming should be
Parental Responsibility - The way gaming should be
Parental Responsibility, the cause of most problems associated with Video Games and computers. Irresponsible parents who lets children play video games that aren't appropriate for them are the same parent who then sue the game developer or run to Jack Thompson for a helping hand. There is no end to the number of cases put in front of a court every year on this issue, and no end to the lies spread by people such as Jack Thompson and others on how it is "the developers fault" and not the fault of the irresponsible parent or adult gardian.
Well today a WordPress jourelist posted an article covering some of these types of cases over the last 6 months, mostly to do with Gaming but one to do with Microsoft Xbox Content also. So take a read and see what you think, it's good to see someone with the right state of mind for once making their voice heard.

Via: http://gamepolitics.com/2007/11/16/son-uses-dads-debit-card-dad-sues-microsoft/So let me get this straight, you let your child take your debit card, subscribe to Live, and then you bounced your bank account a year later?
You sir, are dumb.
I’m not sure whats worse though, considering his bank account bounced from a mere 50 dollars, suggesting that he apparently is having money issues to begin with, or that he knew about it and wanted to attempt a class-action against Microsoft. Lawsuits today have become a tool of extortion in many ways, companies sue each other over patent copyrights, the RIAA sues people for 1,000 dollar songs, and people with no real life threatening injuries sue other people or companies from auto accidents for money. Then you have people who sue for pouring hot coffee on their lap, sticking kitties in microwaves to dry. This world has turned into if you don’t like someone, sue them, because they’re bad.
Good example of that, this: http://gamepolitics.com/2007/11/16/jack-thompson-petitions-court-to-sue-gp-eca/
Good lord Jack Thompson, with all of the free press and probably cash bags you get from Rockstar to promote their games, you need to sue Gamepolitics, because they might be ratting you out of your fortune-making scheme?
Common sense? What’s that? Apparently in this day and age, common sense and morality are replaced by dim-bulb attorneys who are only out to make money on your expense, and so they can score some cheap headlines by being the one to top some large corporation like Microsoft, or in Jack’s case, silence his biggest critic. After all, when you can’t beat them, sue them. You know, because if they have no money, they can’t blog.
